Required McDATA Firmware

This section provides the required firmware version for use with the supported McDATA

models.The UltraNet Edge 3000 supports 1x1 and 2x2 configurations with all McDATA firmware

releases. Table 2-3 shows supported McData models and required firmware.

Note: Recommended EFCM code level: 8.7.1or higher

* Cascaded FICON configurations are not supported.

Cascaded Switches and Preferred Path

For cascaded FICON switches, McDATA has an EOS feature that is called Preferred Path. This

feature must be enabled so that all ports that are included on a CHPID (or sets of CHPIDs) use the

same ISL between the cascaded switches. Customers should inquire with their McDATA support

representative to correctly configure the Preferred Path feature.
